Islands Petroleum Supports Life-Saving Blood Drive

Lae, Papua New Guinea: Islands Petroleum (IP) has demonstrated its commitment to the community by participating in a recent blood donation drive organized by the Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) Foundation and ANGAU Hospital on August 13th 2024.

Of the 43 employees who participated, 23 successfully donated blood, which will be used to support the ANGAU Hospital Blood Bank and the vital Mama Medevac Program.

IP, a leading fuel and lubricant distributor with over 40 years of experience in Papua New Guinea, operates across the country with its headquarters in Rabaul and depots in major towns. The company is the exclusive distributor of Mobil lubricants and provides exceptional services through its fleet of bulk tanker trucks.

Regional Manager Shahab Das expressed IP's enthusiasm for supporting MAMA Foundation's life-saving work.

“We are a community-oriented company and believe in giving back,” said Das. “This blood donation drive is a wonderful opportunity for our staff to make a difference in the lives of others.”

IP’s participation follows a similar blood drive in Kokopo last March, where 30 employees

from Agmark NGIP Ltd donated blood to support the St Mary's Vunapope Hospital in East New Britain and the Mama Medevac Program.

The Mama Medevac Program is a crucial service providing helicopter emergency medical transportation for women experiencing childbirth complications in remote areas of Papua New Guinea. Established as a partnership between the Morobe Provincial Government and Manolos Aviation Ltd, the program has become the largest rural and remote medical support for women and newborns in the country.

By supporting the blood drive, IP is contributing to a critical community need. This is the first blood donation drive for IP Lae, and the company plans to continue this initiative in the future.
