During a formal handover last week at the Manolos Aviation heliport in Lae, director of Parker Foundation Justin Parker praised Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) Foundation for doing a great job in terms of providing helicopter medical evacuation (medevac) service from remote areas in Papua New Guinea.
“I want to thank Jurgen Ruh for doing what he does. It inspires me especially when he is helping the mothers and struggling people in the remote areas,” Parker said.
“I bought a helicopter and I got rid of it. I got all those tooling that I bought with it, they are all brand new, including all the attachments and everything else to go with the helicopter because I wanted to start up something.”
“And I’ve had them for a while. I had the option of selling them, but seeing what MAMA has been doing with the medevac service, and I’ve seen the amazing job especially of them going out to the remote areas and helping the unfortunate mothers, the struggling people.”
“The best thing I could do is to help them with the equipment that I have, and what ever they need to use they can use, whatever they can’t, they can sell and put the money back into continuing the medevac service,” Parker said.
He said a valuation on all the equipment and tooling, was about K550, 000 worth.
Parker said the donation is his contribution for a good cause: “I am doing my part, in whatever way I can do to help provide a better service. When I see the helicopters flying around helping mothers, I know that I played a part.”
Director of MAMA Foundation Jurgen Ruh said the donation was welcoming and will go a long way to support the medevac service.
“Most of the equipment will be used for the commercial work that Manolos Aviation occasionally do, which sustains the MAMA Foundation medevac operations. We’ve now got floats and life rafts, cargo hooks and nets, which will certainly go a long way with us.”
