Medevac Nurse Sr Naomi Pamaraka assisted the delivery of a healthy baby girl, born at 10:50am, at approximately 8500ft, onboard our pink Bell 222 helicopter, on March 24th.
A 25-year-old mum experiencing birth complications (hand presentation) was picked up from remote Catholic-run Kanabea Health Centre in Gulf Province, for transfer to Lae. The transfer was urgent because the health facility was unable to deliver to assist the hand presentation delivery. About 20-30minutes into flight and the mother delivered.
Belinda (mother) and her newborn were discharged from ANGAU Hospital postnatal ward on Saturday March 18th.
